"This is probably the most direct and simple piece on the album.
When someone leaves home, for whatever reason, they usually leave someone waiting behind, wanting to hear back, waiting to know that they are safe and out of harms way.
Also, that they are making the most of their experiences and learning from them and becoming more whole/complete.
It was my thoughts of this scenario that led me to write a song about a fictious girl leaving her small (probably mid western USA, in my narrative) home to find herself.
The people left behind want her to keep in touch with them occassionally, that's all!" (Guy)
Lyrics
Madison Blue, what have we done to you?
You fled out the door, with dreams to explore, your old life was through
Oh somewhere down the road, did you feel a lightening of the load
As you left it all behind...and stared into the Sun blind
Madison Blue, you believed we never knew...
That when you rolled the dice, you never thought twice about what you were going to do
Bet it all or leave it and let the cards fall, it meant nothing at all,
just a chance to pass the time away on one more dull day
Madison Blue, it's not easy to lose you
In some small town you're passing through on a journey home
Take some time, once in a while to look around you and see what's going on and pass it along
