clues
& references: Songs for easy listening in which the lyrics are most
important, with influences from folk, Eastern- & worldmusic, classic & ambient,
coloured with some progressive touches every now and then. Manning playes his
im-/expressive compositions with acoustic guitar and a beautiful mature voice (timbre near
Tull's Anderson and Cat Stevens), instrumentally supported by his PO90-friends.
"Wait for the drummers roll to begin" Manning states in In My Life,
however, besides acoustic percussion only drummachines can be heard. By it's length and
mostly laidback rhythms, the album tends to doze off a little. |
